It’s 7:14 am and I’m sitting at a coffee shop near my house. This pea coat-over-pajamas ensemble I’ve got going on has me slightly aware, but not enough to really care. I’ve convinced myself it’s the “I live across the street and I’m just getting coffee to-go” look. It could also be called the “I was too lazy to get dressed” look, but ya know, tomatoes to-mah-toes.
There’s a man sitting alone across from me. He’s old, the type of old that doesn’t just come with age. He’s weathered by life, or so it seems. He has wraspy silver hair tucked into his gray newsie hat, his eyes focused on the creased newspaper in front of him. The bold headline reads “Tragedy in Kathmandu”, from the earthquake that rattled Nepal this past weekend. A cup of coffee sits half finished in front of him in a mug he likely brought from home. Maybe this is his routine. Maybe he walks down here from the hills every day around this time, coffee cup in hand and reads the paper. Maybe he’s a professor, or maybe he’s a washed up hippie. Maybe he’s both. You never really know around these parts until you talk to someone. There’s a lot of characters here.
So…this weekend was fun and really chill. We drove through Boulder Creek and had lunch in Santa Cruz. Boulder Creek is a cool place. It’s this little hippie town in the mountains just outside of Santa Cruz. A creek runs through the whole place, supplying a constant water reserve for the towering redwoods. Trey rode his bike at this skate park and I took photos. The dogs hung out in the shade watching us. Later we went shopping back in San Francisco and I picked up a bandana for Keeper at the Levi’s store. I told the clerk “It’s for my dog“, to which I got a great “I don’t care” look from. Haha. Not a dog person. Then Keep chewed through it on the way home in the backseat so now I have to sew it back together. What a teenager. She’s a wild one. We love the crap out of her. We finished out the weekend by watching a movie and eating chili.
Alright, coffee’s ready…time get this Monday started. I’m hoping to post more here this week. Work has ramped up and I’m in the middle of planning something really rad that’s been hogging my attention lately (which I am excited to talk about soon). I’ve got some cool posts planned once everything settles down a bit. Until then, hope you guys have a great week.
