Bourbon peach sweet tea

Call off the hounds (just kidding don’t, we like them), I’ve found the best end-of-summer, heading-into-fall drink. It has everything: bourbon, sweet tea, a little lemon and the sweetness of fresh, ripe peaches. We served it up in mason jars filled with ice cubes and drank them outside. I love this time of year when warm days are followed by cool nights and the sun last well into the evening. This is the perfect drink to carry with you on a walk around the neighborhood just before it gets dark and the lightening bugs come out. Oh geez, I think my southern roots might be showing with this one. Also, bummer, we don’t get lightening bugs here in Berkeley. In North Carolina, the woods would light up like glitter with them.  Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset

Here’s what you need:

2 oz bourbon
1-2 ripe peaches
1 oz fresh lemon juice
Tea, to top
Simple syrup
Sprig of mint
Lemon round to garnish
Ice cubes

How to make:

Start by quartering the peaches in a glass and muddling them until you’re left with a pulp. Next, strain the juice from the peaches into a cocktail shaker, then add ice cubes, bourbon, and lemon juice and give it a 10-15 sec shake. Transfer to a mason jar (or glass) and top with tea. To control sweetness level, we used unsweetened tea and then added some simple syrup to our liking. You can do this, or  just use tea that’s already sweetened. To finish it off, add a sprig of mint and a lemon round to the rim! Then come back and tell me how good it is!
